Wild Animals

Wild Animals contains two completely new fables from award-winning author Alida Winternheimer.

In “Wild Animal,” a black bear, that’s Ursus americanus, takes on the role of anthropologist, studying the Homo sapiens who parade past the Observation Pen in a small, Midwestern zoo. Things go awry when Other Bear gets involved.

In “Forest Fever,” a Voyageur stays out one day too many and is forced to spend the winter in the wilds of the great Northwoods. When he meets a wolf, the first question is “who will eat whom?” When they meet a magnificent stag, the next question is “how will this unlikely trio survive the winter together?”
